Grow Local. Grow Michigan.
Michigan's craft beverage industry is inextricably linked to the landscape from where it came. Here is where it grows.
Michigan is the second most agriculturally diverse state in the nation, and the ag sector contributes $30 billion to Michigan’s thriving economy – the second biggest economic driver in the state. It is no surprise that our craft beverage industry is rooted in farmland. With more than 3,050 acres devoted to wine grape vineyards and more than 1,000 acres of hops, the state’s landscape is bursting with craft beverage pride.
The connection between growers and researchers has always been a key component to the growth of the state’s ag sector. With the support of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the ingenuity of our universities, Michigan farmers continue to face important topics such as climate change and water quality with an innovative spirit and determined grit.
